SEVENTEEN member The8 has released a teaser for his upcoming solo release, ‘Side By Side’.
In the clip, the singer – real name Xu Minghao – approaches a love interest at a bar with a rose, only for her to walk away in order to pick up a call. ‘Side by Side’, due out April 13, will mark The8’s third solo single, following last year’s ‘Falling Down’ and ‘Dreams Come True’ from 2019.
Pledis Entertainment first announced on April 8 that The8 would be returning with a new single alongside a stylish teaser image that featured the Chinese K-pop idol dressed in an oversized navy blue suit, casually leaning against a sports car. According to The Korea Herald, the new single will be available in both Korean and Chinese.

‘Side By Side’ will also be the latest of several solo releases from SEVENTEEN‘s members this year. Hoshi, the group’s main dancer, dropped his long-awaited debut mixtape ‘Spider’ on April 2. Meanwhile, fellow Chinese member Jun released two singles, ‘Crow’ and ‘Silent Boarding Gate’, in February.
Earlier this month, the group also made their first-ever appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, performing the single ‘Hit’ from their 2019 album ‘An Ode’. In an exclusive behind-the-scenes video, SEVENTEEN also shared that the key message behind their music.
The group made their US TV debut in January this year on The Late Late Show With James Corden with a performance of ‘HOME;RUN’. They later also went on to perform ‘Left & Right’ on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
